Which complaints are eligible?

Which complaints are eligible for a disciplinary procedure and which are not?

Which complaints are eligible for a disciplinary procedure?

  • Complaints about facts dating after 25 May 2014.
  • Complaints about recognised psychologists.
  • Complaints about the professional actions of the psychologist. Exception: an investigation within a legal framework.

How about complaints that are not eligible for a disciplinary procedure?

Most complaints that are not admissible for the Disciplinary Committee are eligible for mediation.

If your complaint is about facts that occurred before 25 May 2014, you can:

  • come to a mutual agreement via mediation
  • file a complaint with the public prosecutor
  • contact the professional association Belgian Federation of Psychologists (BFP), if the psychologist is a member.

If your complaint is not about a recognised psychologist, you can:

  • come to a mutual agreement via mediation
  • inform us of possible abuse of the title

Your complaint is about the behaviour of a psychologist in a non-public context.

  • If your complaint is about the behaviour of the psychologist outside his/her professional context, you can only turn to the public prosecutor.

You would like compensation, a reimbursement or rectification of a psychological report?

  • These measures can possibly be achieved via mediation, provided that the psychologist agrees with this.
